I Elevated my Home with EcoSmart lighting!

This winter I decided I needed to upgrade my living room with a cozy reading nook.  I knew lighting would be crucial to setting the right mood, so I partnered with EcoSmart and The Home Depot to find the perfect lighting for the space.

INTIMATE READING NOOK WITH THIN FILAMENT LED EDISON BULB

To get the right look and provide lighting options, I went with two lamps: the freestanding Cline Floor Lamp with Clear Glass Shade, and the Frazier Antique Brass Table Lamp with USB Port.  Pairing these lamps with Ecosmart Thin Filament LED Edison bulbs provided the perfect warm and cozy lighting for the space.   Just look at the difference with and without lighting – it is dramatic!

BEFORE & AFTER

EcoSmart’s innovative designs have a much thinner filament than competitors’ bulbs, while still providing the same amount of light output.  The thin LED filament gives you that true vintage look of an Edison bulb, but with all the benefits of LED – energy efficiency and the associated cost savings, long bulb life, plus EcoSmart’s limited 10-year warranty!

If you’ve got a space you’d like to give a similar upgrade to, here are links to the products I used.  All these products are also available at your local Home Depot.

While I was shopping, I picked up a number of other bulbs from Ecosmart, so I have options to suit any mood or occasion.  Ecosmart really does have the ultimate curated collection of latest lighting options, and they are all available in one place - your local Home Depot.  Check out these other amazing options!

FLAME BULB

First up is the LED flame bulb. It flickers and does an amazing job of recreating the light of a warm fire burning in your fireplace - with no risk of a fire!  I love using this bulb to set the mood when curling up on the couch for a movie night.

COLOR-CHANGING PARTY BULB

EcoSmart also has a Color Changing Party Bulb with Remote, which I can swap in for larger gatherings.

COLOR CHANGING BULB WITH BLUETOOTH SPEAKER

This one is just cool.  EcoSmart has a bulb with a built-in Bluetooth speaker.  It is an LED bulb and you can control its color, or set it up to pulse and change color with the music.  It even syncs the lighting to the beat of the music playing from it… how cool will that be at your next party?!

And with all these bulbs, you can rely on EcoSmart quality.  Their LED bulbs last a loooong time, and they back it up with up to a 10 Year Limited Warranty (22 Year Bulb Life) on select bulbs, and a 5 Year Limited Warranty (~13 Year Bulb Life) on the rest of their LED bulbs.

Better yet, all of EcoSmart’s bulbs are Energy Star Rated, and provide great value.  So head over to your local Home Depot to check out the EcoSmart lineup for yourself!

RIDGID 18V Cordless Tools - FIRST IMPRESSIONS!!

Buying a cordless tool system is an investment, and I would be lying if I said that there is one tool brand that is perfect for anyone - there isn’t.  However, I can confidently say that Ridgid is the right brand for a lot of people.  Is it the right brand for you? Read on to find out…

First off, I’m excited to announce that I’ll be partnering with Ridgid over the next year to put their tools to the test, and provide my honest feedback not only to all of you, but to Ridgid.  Part of this gig is that I get to make suggestions about how their already-stellar line of tools can improve -- how cool is that?!

I’ve owned a number of Ridgid tools for several years now, including two of my favorites - their 18V cordless router, and 18v cordless brad nailer.  They have held up to some pretty heavy duty use over the years, so I was excited when Home Depot and Ridgid approached me about working together and putting Ridgid’s full line of tools to the test as I renovate an abandoned building and turn it into my dream home and workshop.  (Check out the abandoned building renovation playlist if you haven’t already!)

With that out of the way, let’s get back to the question of whether Ridgid’s tools are right for you, as an individual reading this article.  If you are a person who uses tools infrequently, once or twice a month when the odd repair or picture-hanging chore pops up, then there are probably cheaper tool brands that will do the job just fine.  At the other end of the spectrum, if you always want the flashiest tool with every bell and whistle, there are more expensive tool brands that offer more bells and whistles.  But, if you want a great combination of durable high-performance tools that won’t break the bank, then Ridgid is a great fit for you.

In other words, Ridgid tools provide a perfect combination of value and performance.  They are rugged and durable enough to stand up to pro use -- several of the subcontractors working with me on the building are Ridgid die-hards!  At the same time, they won’t break the bank, coming in at much lower price point than some of those yellow and blue-green “pro” tool brands.  If this sounds like it fits the bill for you (and I think it will for many of you ;) ), then head to your local Home Depot or homedepot.com to check them out.

Over the course of the next year, I’ll be picking out some of my Ridgid favorites to feature in blog posts.  I’ll start with the #1 most necessary pair of cordless tools - the impact driver and drill.  I’ve been using Ridgid’s new subcompact 18v drill and impact driver for a couple months, and I’m in love.  They are TINY!!  Smaller than other brands 12v tools so they fit in tight spaces, but still provide you with 18v power.  What’s not to love?!

Here are the specs and links -- go check ‘em out for yourself!
